Jerry
Vaughan resides in Nashville, TN with his wife and three
children. He grew up in Nashville and graduated from Auburn
University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Business Administration. He has enjoyed a seventeen-year
sales career in the medical field working with orthopedic
and neurological surgeons .
He has spent most of his medical career in the operating
room working directly with operating room personnel and
surgeons. The products he distributed were used for total
knee, hip, and shoulder replacements in orthopedic surgical
patients. He enjoys spending time with his family and
playing tennis and golf.
Jerry was inspired to write this book after witnessing
a child in the operating room who was frantic about having
surgery. While writing this book, his goal was to provide
photos, illustrations, and accurate information that benefits
both the child and parents. He hopes this book will educate,
reduce anxiety, and lessen the trauma for children and
parents experiencing the surgical process for the first
time. One part of this book that is very special to him
are the illustrations drawn by his nine-year old daughter.
She experienced outpatient surgery one year ago and illustrated
her perception of the surgical process.
